was born in Pittsburgh, earned his M.F.A. in Fairbanks, Alaska, and spent over thirty years teaching writing and literature to thousands of diverse college students in places ranging from the Arctic Slope to the bayous of Louisiana.
Since emerging from the trenches of academe, he now makes art and music in the old mountains of central Pennsylvania.
His words and images appear on the covers and inside the pages of nearly 70 print and online publications, as well as in online galleries and international juried exhibits. He’s a Senior Editor and Featured Artist at the Raw Art Review, his totem poles and busts have turned the heads of many strangers, and his music-making and singing often leave listeners shaking their heads in disbelief.
